anyone here that doesn't look like their parents?
done some research on the first question wanna know more.
If you've done research, you probably read about phenotype and genotype. Phenotype is what a person looks like, genotype is their actual genetic make-up.
Everybody has genes from both parents for every characteristic. Some genes are dominant and will always show up in the phenotype, others are recessive and will not show up unless you inherit that same recessive gene from both parents.
Eg, 2 brown eyed, dark haired parents could make a baby with blue eyes and red hair - think Canelo Alvarez - because they could both carry the blue eye/red hair genes, and pass them on to a child, without having blue eyes or red hair themselves. Those charateristics would have been suppressed in the parents by the dominant dark hair/brown eye genes they also carry.
So yes, genes do determine body shape, but you could have a different body shape than both your parents because of the genotype/phenotype difference. How much you eat also plays a part, of course.
Ive actually dated girls who were thin and good looking, but both parents were sacks of **** and didn't look good at all. Sometimes the child could take after a grandparent.
On the flip side, Ive seen some very overweight people with thin parents.
