Dissapointed, mentally drained, not motivated to train anymore

Hi, i started boxing 2 years ago, joined a boxing gym and fell in love with the sport, 1 month in i already wanted to compete, months went by and i realized that the coach didnt really like me he would say that i was fighting in 2 weeks and then a day before the fight call me and tell me that i wasnt fighting anymore, that happened numerous times. The funny part is that the team would always fight... I always coped with it though because i loved training there. However, some months ago i had enough and stop training there, as i said before the coach clearly didnt want me there he would never correct me, talk to me, do some mittwork with me i was nobody for him... Even though i was the hardest worker there. So i decided to make my own home gym and train by myself, time was passing by and i realized that i was never going to compete, going to another gym wasnt possible because that was the only boxing gym in town. So due to my love for boxing i made the decision to move to italy with my grandmother and pursue my boxing career there, im moving to italy on February. The thing is, im not motivated to train anymore i dont know what to do, training by myself is boring and i had enough of it, i feel mentally drained and with no desire of training, the coach destroyed my motivation at all honesty and made me feel like garbage during the time i was there and made me think that maybe boxing wasnt for me, should i take these 3 months off? opinions?

first of, you need to paragraph your posts. Your wall of text makes it much more difficut to read, no one wants to read through that.

What I dont understand, how did you come to the big decision to move to another country for your passion, but still have problems with your motivation?

Couldnt you just move to another town? Why the drastic decision to move to another country? I dont even think italy offers much in terms of opportunities for your boxing career, especially if you are a foreigner.

So, have you asked your trainer directly, why he doesnt let you fight?
We are just hearing from your perspective, maybe you are not as talented as you think you are and the trainer doesnt think that you are ready to fight.

Hey, thank you for taking your time to try and help me and for reading my mess of a post.

I live in Venezuela, a country where there are no opportunities in all aspects, people here are resentful and my coach was no exception. I come from a Wealthy?family, the vast majority of the population here is poor and discrimination against people who have money is all over the country, my coach, lives in extreme poverty and from day one i noticed how he treated the other fighters and how he treated me, he always underestimated me.

I know im talented, it has nothing to do with that in, in fact, i sparred the whole gym and always ended up holding my own if not beating the crap out of them, believe me. I also trained in Hialeah, Florida for 5 months and sparred some decent amateurs, always holding my own even though some were way more skilled boxers.

Theres no point in moving to another town, the problem is the country. My first option was moving to the USA, but being a foreigner i knew it was going to be tough and the paperwork would take months if not years and i cant waste anymore time, im already 20 years old and i havent had my first amateur fight...

Im an italian citizen, i did some research about the amateurs there and they seem to be decent, i can also make the italian team and take part on international competitions.

My lack of motivation comes from training alone and without a coach or a partner.

don't let the melatonin **** with your mind. See, when you're riding the 'high' of your workout your body at the same time is adjusting to your saratonin surge. It adapts by raising your possible melatonin levels to whatever saratonin levels you might have hit. It will equally distributes to whatever levels your saratonin hit, you get higher and your melatonin can now reach those levels too. Saratonin is the high that you get after your workout. Melatonin makes you sleepy and lazy, leading to depression. Understand this before you just walk away.

"Winners have the ability to train, when they don't want to train!"........

If you are not injured, or suffering from over-training? Sort yourself out! and Get back!

Great post! Not many people are aware of the side effects of melatonin! I used to do alot of meditation unaware that it increases melatonin to sometimes unnatural levels (And yes it does cause/worsen depression! And make you really really drowsy during the day).

SuperTriggiano may be over-trained, due to his worrying about opportunity etc mental stress, combined with the physical stress's of training is burning the candle on both ends. And when you are stressed, your body actually makes less serotonin! (Due to how stress can effect your gut!)...

So more melatonin is having its way with you.

He could try taking some vitamin D.

bad experiences can take away motivation also, starting over again at another gym with a better coach could help too. a few good workouts and training sessions can get the fire going again

I think you just need to unplug for a bit and take a break completely from boxing/training. Come back to it and see if you still want to do it. You might feel refreshed and energized and start off with a newfound motivation with a new team. Or maybe not and you find out that boxing is not for you which is perfectly ok as well. Boxing is not something you wanna be doing unless you're fully committed and motivated. You might be training alongside and competing with people who are completely motivated and focused to be the best fighters in the WORLD, those are dangerous people. Think about it hard and give yourself a break.

This is why some boxers take a break here and there and then get right back to it. Everyone gets burned out at some point, no matter what they do.
