Fight behind and the Jab and counter but heavy emphasis on the jab and landing the straight left

Do what your coach says to do. Thats how you fight those kinds of boxers.

I'm kind of stocky and a southpaw and found I could land a straight left to the solar plexus area pretty well against some people. There were a couple of times in sparring landing one of those kept the guy off me for the rest of the round.

            Second that

Keep his left busy with your right, reel him in, then hit him with an uppercut to the solar plexus when he least expects it. Keep a nice overhand left in your back pocket. A nice check hook too if you have the skills.

And don't show the overhand until you're sure you can take him out. You don't even want to let him know that you can throw it.

I third that, and agree with this.
