can boxing coaches teach only what they want to teach? for instance, I am not too fond of non-defense based styles if I were to become a coach could I only teach that style? or do I have to teach whatever the student wishes me to teach them?

I had a boxing coach that was super fooking mexican style boxing. Like straight out of Juan Manuel Marquez textbook. Right down to the awkward side stance, tucked lead elbow, tight glove to the chin and body, the bounce and everything.
I didn't like it. It wasn't for me. I did it for a little while then did it my way. He accepted it, we moved on. Simple as that.
