***** negotiated a May 1st withdrawl. He had the agreement of all sides involved: afghan tribal leaders, the afghan government and the Taliban. That date was agreed upon by all. Afghan tribal leaders keep the Taliban in check. It was a fragile balance of peace.

But then ***** changed the date to 9/11 because of course he had to turn it into a publicity stunt, instead of simply respecting the agreed upon deal and giving Trump the credit

Well, the Taliban used that deal break for their propaganda. It worked very well. They called the USA backstabbing liars for breaking the deal, and they called the afghan government US puppets because the afghan government did nothing to express their discontent and force the USA to respect the deal made and withdraw on May 1st. So the Taliban gained popularity and even support of the Afghani people, while the afghan government lost support of its own people. The Taliban took over major points and cities across Afghanistan, and are now running the country. ***** pulled out troops, but left billions in military equipment, which are now Taliban toys, andthere is maybe around 10,000 US non-military citizens that are now stuck in hostile territory, with all their lives at great risk.

You’re welcome. Sorry, I wrote ***** at the beginning. It was Trump. Trump had sent Pompeo to negotiate the May 1st withdrawal. Everyone came to agreement. Then ***** changed the date to September 11th.
