Well, they tried to cripple the US with the Pearl Harbor attack and the refuse to surrender. They did drop leaflets in Japan warning that a nuclear attack was coming so the residents can flee. Japan was no innocent bystander because they were conquering everything around them and attacked the US to avoid interference. The Pearl Harbor attack brought the US into WW2 and that is what happens when you poke the bear.

Additionally before the nukes the did firebomb Japan cities with that Operation Meetinghouse with the allies.

I for one don't like the residents to get attacked like that because of politics of their government.

No, but what Japan and **** Germany did to people is.

The atomic bomb saved more people than it killed as Japan was prepared to fight until the very end. A lesser evil if you will and a pro USA way to end the war.

Had I been president, maybe there is another way to blow up a smaller target first and force Japan's uncoonditional surrender. Maybe....
