    Holly Holm vs Meisha Tate

Holly Holm was undefeated in her UFC career so far, slicing through the women’s bantamweight division like a hot knife through butter.

She even knocked Ronda Rousey out in convincing fashion, breaking her jaw and dealing the ex-champ her first ever loss.
Meisha Tate was the no.1 contender (for 2nd time), having lost to Ronda on two separate occasions,

No idea what this thread is about exactly, but Holm didn't hot knife through butter anything. Holm looked lackluster in all of her UFC fights prior to Rousey & she almost lost a fight (was a split decision W) a fight or two before Rousey. She destroyed Rousey, but lets not reinvent Holm's history cuz of that.

Yeah, Holm's a great counter-striker but looks only good against cautious opponents. The Pennington fight you could argue she had debut-jitters, but that second fight showed she's not the same kind of attacker that you see with Stephen Thompson. She's good enough to control the fight against the other women and win a decision, unless they continuously charge at her like Rousey did.

Most of rounds in Holm/Tate were utterly boring to watch, if not for the shocking stoppage, both women's stock would've dropped after that fight.

On the MMA-Hour, it was interesting to hear Holm say this loss was much harder to take the KO loss to Sophie Mathis, due to there being so much more energy from the media and fans.
