Dana White: Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone fight makes sense?

Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone have rapidly become the new will they or wont they??couple in the UFC.

For the better part of 2019, the two lightweights have been linked to a potential showdown inside the UFC Octagon. Initially, McGregor tweeted he was down to scrap with Cowboy?in January. With UFC President Dana White declaring hed attempt to book the two fan favorites, it felt like only a matter of time before the fight officials announced the pairing. But after more back-and-forth on social media led to nothing, Cerrone declared he was done chasing?a fight against the Irishman.

However, after Cerrone emerged victorious over Al Iaquinta at UFC Ottawa this past Saturday, rumors began to swirl once again. White would only add fuel to fire during a recent appearance on The Jim Rome Show.

[McGregor] and I are getting together very soon, within the next week, and were going to figure out whats next for him,?White told the Jim Rome Show?on Tuesday. I see him fighting this summer.

The Cerrone fight makes sense. Theres a couple different options out there for him. He was talking about the Cerrone fight at one point. I dont really know but that fight makes sense.?br />
In terms of competition, McGregor (21-4), a former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, has not competed since his fourth-round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October. This marked his first walk to the Octagon since his second destruction of former champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in November 2016.

Cerrone (36-11, 1 NC), a former UFC & WEC title challenger, continues to wrack up accolades as he cemented himself atop the UFC records for most most total wins (23), finishes (16), post-fight bonuses (17) and knockdowns (20) in UFC history.

Fight making more & more sense with how well Cowboy is doing.

After Cowboy had that 1-4 streak I thought he was done. But now he's on a 3 fight win streak including my mfer Mike Perry & Ragin Al. Good luck to Cowboy in getting that huge fight that I think he can win.

I would not say "CAN't win".

            Cerrone could get clipped.

Yea maybe that having a kid thing did change him like he's been saying. Cuz I thought my man Perry was gonna get him. Cowboy made that sh^t look easy. Than I was sure Al was gonna get him, but Cowboy damn near looking like he was fighting in the matrix in that one.

Respect to Cowboy. Always been a fan of him, sh^t how can you not be, but he's had a resurgence like I've rarely seen. And I'd LOVE to see him get some crazy ass epic W over McGregor &/or win a title. Don't know if he can do it, but I didn't think he'd be in the spot he's in now either so good luck to Cowboy & I'm legit rooting on Cowboy proving me wrong some more.

Now he’s fighting Ferguson? He beats Ferg in my opinion and I think he’s a bad matchup for khabib. Cowboy is on a tear.
