That's pretty random because nothing in the post you made this comment on was about Lewis vs Byrd. So you agree that Byrd/Tua was considerably closer than Lewis/Tua?

But since you asked...Lewis did decline to fight Byrd, so you can call that ducking if you think it fits. But it was nowhere near as bad as Bowe ducking Lewis or Haye ducking the Klitschko's.

The only bottom line is that Lewis Ruddock, Holy and Bowe staged a mini tournament with the winners agreeing to face each other. Bowe than low balled Lewis (documented already) and dumped his WBC title so the fight couldn't be forced. These are all facts.
Facts don't always seem to get the job done here.

        Who was "Universal No1 contender"?

        Who staged (organised) The Mini-Tournement?

Lennox Lewis was the WBC No1 contender and was unranked by the WBA & IBF who's belts undisputed champion Rid**** Bowe also held.. the WBA are the oldest Governing body and their No1 contender was Ray Mercer with the IBF No1 contender being Evander Holyfield.

Facts" are when evidence (proof) is shown and provided, not just someones theory or word... yet of late evidence (proof) when supplied has been trashed & ridiculed as lies & liar's as well as comments like,"He is the worst boxing correspondent in the USA" etc etc... whenever you have asked for proof it has been supplied yet you still cannot bring yourself to admit that it is truthful and factual and you still continue to then argue your old theories in the manner in which you believe them to be factual even tho you know they have been proven as incorrect.

This topic is about Lewis ducking Byrd... so i ask you once again, "Did Lewis "Duck" Byrd by giving up his belt rather than face Byrd the No1 contender... yes/no ?

Thing with this thread is when was Lewis meant to fight Byrd? By the time Byrd was a live body Lewis had to regain the title from Rahman, the Tyson fight though a few years late was a given and to fight Vitali rather than Byrd can hardly be called a duck. After Vitali he realised he was slipping had more money than he needed and retired.
So if he had kept fighting after Vitali for a few years and not fought Byrd then yes it would have been a duck as it stands, I can't see it. Thing with a lot of these duck threads is they ignore timelines

i think the only person getting his time-lines mixed up is yourself... Lewis defended his WBC & IBF titles against Mike Tyson 6.8.2002 he then had to defend his title against No1 contender Chris Byrd and refused so was stripped... Lewis then chose to fight the amazing Kirk Johnson in defence of the pitiful IBO belt, Johnson pulled out due to injury so Lewis brought forward his mandatory WBC defence against Vitali Klitschko from December 2003 to June 2003.. Lewis WBC title was not allowed to be on the line against Johnson... Lewis fight with Rahman was 18 months previous.

Johnson wasn't that great i'll agree but at that time there wasn't much of a call for Byrd either. As for who was the contender put up by Don King we go back to the old Ruiz argument.

What does the IBO title have to do with anything? All the alphabet title are just bargaining chips and mean nothing. Everyone knows Lewis was the man back then and beating him would have propelled them to a place the any of the belts could not have done for them alone.

I answered your question specifically. Take the time to read it again. Do you need me to testify under oath?
