I also thought the cotto-floyd fight was much closer than most people....
maybe its just me, but i thought floyd had very close fights with both cotto and oscar,, i thought he won them both,,, but were close and competitive with floyd being the winner
Final tally: 115-114, Mayweather (6 rounds Mayweather, 5 rounds De La Hoya, 1 even)
In my opinion, the closest rounds were 3, 6, 8, & 9.
Finally, I might also mention (for what it's worth) that 'Colonel' Bob Sheridan, who was calling/broadcasting the fight (and who I usually like pretty well) had it extremely close as well -- perhaps a draw, if I recall.

I had both the Cotto and De La Hoya fights 9-3 for Floyd. Often we tend to confuse competitive for close. Being in the round and winning a round are two different things. Not saying you're getting things twisted, just speaking generally. Interested in knowing how you scored it because I know we agree on somethings.

A very good point with which I agree. To me a classic example of that principle was the Leonard-Hagler bout. Yes, nearly every round was "competitive", and yet IMHO Ray kept winning them one after another. Not by much, but by enough. So the upshot was that the fight was closely fought within each individual round, yes, yet I couldn't award Marvin many rounds at all (and I watched & scored it very carefully, and if anything was pro-Hagler). So on my card it wasn't close by total round tally, if I make myself clear. All that to say that I agree w/you.
