In fact I didn't think about it until Queen mentioned a few posts back.
We all know about the Tunney cut.
He went 15 hard rounds with Micky walker and almost put him down late. Walker did suffer a cut above his right eye. (Needs confirmation).
I don't know. Finding out would at least be a new exploration into Greb's history. (We have beaten just about every other subject about him to death.).
Would take much newspaper research.

I wish you could too. Then maybe all this hyperbole (not by you) about how this guy Greb was a lesser-god might subside a little.
I have said, and say again. I think (my conjecture from evaluating his rsum? Greb was feather-fisted; that he was an arm puncher.
One anecdotal example: In his decision victory over Tommy Gibbons one newspaper guy qualified the win by stating: "Greb threw a million punches but never hurt Gibbons as he seldom set."
"Seldom set" - What does that suggest? - Arm puncher.
Also what about his nickname? "The Human Windmill." Does that sound like a fighter with finesse, proper balance, a master of technique, throwing set punches that come from the floor? No, it doesn't. What it sounds like is an arm puncher.
And those newspaper guys who coined that nickname for him, were sitting ringside.
I too wish we could find a damn film of him.
P.S. If Anyone wants to debunk my statement, by all means please do, but please do not do it with quotes from Pittsburgh newspapers. They are a useless source when evaluating Harry Greb. Greb was Pittsburgh's golden child and their assessment of his fights read like Fox News talking about Donald Trump, ---> utterly useless information.
Beyond that it's hard to tell much and Pittsburgh did support it's fighters! It Actually was a real boxing town.Last edited by billeau2; 05-08-2025, 09:56 PM.Willie Pep 229 likes this.

I have never heard a Greb contemporary praise his footwork or his defensive nuance.
It seems to me there is little to no primary sources that make such statements, but boy he gets better and better with each fanboy biography published.
Wait the years and that SOB will ne able to fly
P.S. The Human Windmill doesn't suggest either of those traits.
Actually most of the press then and now a bunch of fabulists with an occasional seminal prize winning breaking study.
300 bouts then with both fighters going at it, there's going to be cuts.
Ali won a lot of his early fights on minor cuts as boxing was trying to promote him to a title shot.Willie Pep 229 likes this.

All thru his career he got favorable officiating as I reviewed everyone of his fights.

I watched his fights as they happened. Instead of persisting with this BS, take a look at his record ,you will see most of the tko's he got were after he had floored his opponents and they were in bad trouble.
