Start swimming. it will be alot better than just going on your bike and may even repair your ankle. Aswell as that try eating 4-6 small meals a day (around 250 calories per meal). This will dramatically speed up your metabolism hence you will burn more fat when you exercise.

man, how are you gonna fight on a bad ankle. Movement is gonna be a problem no? I've busted up my ankle many times, and I would spend everyday doing physical therapy with it on my own. I would suggest that, get it stronger....then walk.....and eventually jog.
