Sprints are from 55m-400m (400m can be argued to be Mid but is not consider so), Mid Distance is 800-1600 (99.9% sure), Long Distance is above that. Every .1 sec is HUGE! Before you dispute my claims you can join a track team (provided you are still in HS) or you can look at some records and watch some videos. I was doing 12s in 8th grade and 11s in 9th + 10th grade.
so basically you are saying that at 9th grade you could run faster than people at the olympics. stop the bullshirt the world record is 9.6. and that doesnt mean he will do that all the time.
the fastest 100 m in ncaa was Trindon Holliday and his time was 10.02

I sprint for competition too, running 11.7-9 approx I get BLOWN out. Running a 12 in that race will make you look like a snail. Anyways you didn't say anything about non competition, you were the one who brought up records (including the top guys). Secondly fast IS what they do in competition. Thats like saying a guy who fights bums is pretty good...at least out of sanctioned boxing. Finally, you argument was I couldn't be running 11s in HS and other HS can run faster.

LAST 5 people on that list:

              B-100 84 10.60 Hunt, Torrance (2009) ( C E Jordan, NC) PAC 6 Conf, 2009-05-06 NWI
              B-100 84 10.60 Dukes, Dedric (2011) ( Washington, FL) Northwest Track Classic, 2009-01-01 NWI
              B-100 84 10.60 Dorsey, Demar (2010) ( Boyd H. Anderson, FL) Broward County Championships, 2009-03-28 w(1.7)
              B-100 WIND 10.60 Blanshan, Brett (2009) ( Selah, WA) WA 2A State Meet, 2009-05-30 w(3.3)
              B-100 84 10.60 Dunlap, Chris (2009) ( Muir, CA) Pacific League Finals, 2009-05-08 NWI

LAST 5 in just the NORTHEAST:

B-100 48 10.99 Smith, Tyler ( North Penn, PA) Continental Conference, 2009-05-08 NWI
              B-100 48 10.99 Pierce, Kwinton (2009) ( Duval, MD) Prince George County, 2009-05-07 NWI
              B-100 48 10.99 Keeny, Brandon (2009) ( Wilson, PA) Leonard Stephan Classic, 2009-04-18 NWI
              B-100 53 11.00 Rogers, Lamar (2009) ( South River, MD) MD 4A East Reg, 2009-05-14 NWI
              B-100 53 11.00 Blackwell, Alexander (2009) ( Wise, MD) Prince George County, 2009-05-07 NWI

Perfect example in the last 5 i posted .1-.01 seconds IS HUGE, thats what wins races.

                    1) Never said they could
                    2) I would bet with training some of them would be decent boxers given their athletic prowess

Bet with boxing training they couldnt sprint for crap well atleast compared to your Jesse owens standards. So how long have you been sprinting against horses?
