yeah i never wore headgear sparring, i wore it once in a little fight, wasnt anything serious, but i hated it, cos i have a small head it kept moving so it had to get tightened, i thought it hurt more, and it messed up my vision a bit. also it just felt horrible.
as for sparring, your doing it too light, i was 9 stone and sparred with someone 19 stone, and didnt go this light, it was extremely hard to hit him, i had no chance

i think it should be up to the point where it's almost as intense as a fight, but you're not trying to kill eachother
It's good to start novices out easy, like 30% and let them get the hang of seeing punches coming at them. As they progress, then you can increase the intensity and go 100%.
