Curries should be fine so long as you're making them yourself or you're able to check what's going inside them. A lot of resturants will use cream and butter in many of them, when in fact a lot of traditional recipes use oil and also give a far better taste.

Also the reply above about chappatis. Again it depends on the recipe. Many traditional recipes consist solely of wholemeal flour and water and so they're incredibly healthy and much better than naans or rice. And if the curry tastes good it will make little difference not having rice or a naan with it.

But maybe he's referring to store bought ones, which clearly may have a lot of crap added to them.

Curry = one of the most healthiest meals you can eat (in my opinion). India, Pakistan, have the lowest rate of cancer in the world.

I always have a curry in the week as I feel it gets rid of all the rubbish out my system.

As a person who lives in a Pakistani household and obviously eats curry regularly (). I know how its cooked to a certain degree and basically just put as little oil as you can and try not to put too much salt in it. Other than that its perfectly fine....excess ****es/pepper isn't as bad as excess oil/salt.

Onions/red or green chilli peppers, curry powder, abit of salt, abit of oil, some water, some yoghurt are usually what goes into the average curry and then you have either spinach (very healthy), chicken and meat. Spinach curry is very healthy and you don't have to even use most of those ingrediants.

I've never seen Indians or Pakis getting fat off curry. I've got a fat Indian mate but hes fat off of takeaways like McDonalds and other junk he eats.

Every single carb breaks down into sugar, just some carbs break down quicker than others.

White boiled rice breaks down into sugar fairly quickly because it is basically processed brown rice, it is basically brown rice with all the husk and fibre removed so that there is only the startchy insides left, which is why it tastes sweeter than brown rice whereas brown rice has more of a nutty flavour to it.

So boiled white rice aint too great for you, of course if its consumed in small amounts then it wont be so bad, but its pretty easy to have two or 3 bowls of the stuff when you are hungry
