I wanted to see a Witherspoon rematch as well.

Williams, I can see a case for also.

Who else do you think he should've faced, that he did not?
There were a few guys more deserving than the Marvis Fraziers, Scott Frank's and Scott LeDeux's (sp?). Coetzee, Tate, Page, Dokes and Tubbs were all titlists during that era that would have been more worthy in my opinion. I wouldn't have favored any of them, but I bwould have been interested in seeing the clash of different styles.

Yeah, Dokes and Tubbs I would've really liked to see against Larry.

And you're right about Marvis. But at least Larry got rid of him quick.

I guess the problem with Holyfield is his 'repuation'.

I mean there is the HGH and Steroid links, and aside from that , his infamous headbutting.

I guess when people think of Holyfield, his big wins AT HW were against Bowe (lost the trilogy) and wins over a passed it Post-Prison Tyson, where the head butting and ear bite got the attention.

That's the reason for most people imo

the steriod links weren't in his prime anyway, and i doubt he did it, mosley was linked too, but i dont see him being put down

he holds wins over moorer also, tyson was actually older than evander at the time of that win too

thats what people forget about evander, most of his run at HW was past his prime

Shot at 40? Since turning 36 he's 6-7-2, 2 KO overall, 1-5-2, 0 KO in title fights, and last beat a top 10 fighter, oh, around age 39 when he butted Rahman to a technical decision more than 7 yrs ago.

How on earth is he getting robbed when clearly he couldn't smush a fly with a jackhammer? How many fighters earn what he does to be a punching bag? If anything younger heavies are being robbed of opportunities to fight for a titles that he's been propped up in.

Joe Mesi, a perfect record and zer0 title shots, Larry Donald, one title shot. Tony Thompson, one title shot. Ike Ibeachui, zer0 title shots in spite of a perfect record, David Tua, one title shot, JCGomez, one title shot, Danny Williams, one title shot, Matt Skelton, one title shot, Dominick Guinn, zer0 title shots, Michael Grant, one title shot, Lance Whitaker, zer0 title shots, Bert Cooper, one title shot, Vaughn Bean, one title shot, Alex Stewert, zer0 title shots, Fres Oquendo, one title shot, Lou Sarvarse, zer0 title shots, Jeremy Bates and Vince Maddalone, zer00 title shots, Povetkin, zer0 title shots, Arreola, zer0 title shots, Albert Sosnowski, zer0 title shots and on.

Am I supposed to feel bad for a guy who's won exactly 1 of his 8 title shots in this period and earned tens of millions of dollars to lose?

I'll vote for the guy in the HOF when his name first comes up, but please, let's not get carried away with nonsense over him. He ain't in the elite great category, not even close. Reminds me a bit of Jack Sharkey's career, sort of all over the map he was.
maybe because most of holyfields fights were wars with guys younger and bigger than him, holyfields 12th pro fight was a tough 15 round fight with Qawi for the cruiserweight title

wlad has had no tough wars in his career, he doesnt mix it up, because the 3 times he has he was KTFO

a career of 30 fights featuring several tough fights and many title fights will wear you out more than a 60 fight career against bums

no one takes you seriously, you have an obvious bias against holyfield and also against ali. If you are really a true boxing fan i dont know how you could harbour a bias against these two, because if i had to name two fighters who had given the most out of their lives to the sport of boxing i would say ali and evander.

As a little side note I remember a story in The Ring after Holyfield had unified the CW title and considered moving up to HW. Holyfield then said that he would make plans with his 'sports-medicinist'. At the time doping was not a thought of issue in the US in general or boxing in particular, but over here doping was making headlines. I thought WTF was that???

I wrote The Ring's answerman asking what role such a person had but my letter wasn't answered. Of course there can be a hundred good reasons as to why it didn't but the term 'sports-medicinist' made me think.

Furthermore plenty of US athletes from the LA olympics has later been exposed as cheaters with blood-doping (early EPO). That goes for cycling and other sports. Still this doesn't mean the boxing class of '84 cheated.
sports medicinist= supplements, vitamins, protein etc to help him bulk up to HW

if he was really on steriods, he wouldnt have made any mention of anything that could possibly lead to su****ion
