Even when I was running a lot, I don’t think I ever did 5 in a week. You’re not giving your legs enough recovery time. Now, I know I currently don’t run enough, but I still get out there every once in a while. Right now, it’s at about once or twice a week maybe.

When I was training good, I was doing 3 - 4 times a week. That was the sweet spot. Frequent enough to build the lungs, but not too much that my legs are always dead or sore.
As long as you do at least 1 hour of cardio in a week, most experts say it's enough to keep your body in the right place.

My advice is to only do one or the other at a time.

I bought one of these about 12 years ago on Craigslist for $30.

Nothing fancy and pretty basic, but it does the job, and it's unbreakable (not electronically controlled which is costly to upkeep...manually adjusted tensioner). No impact on the joints, and I can get my heart rate up to 85% MHR without even coming close to 100% tension resistance, and it doesn't take up much space. I also have a compact stationary bike (also pretty basic) which somebody wanted to get rid of, so I got it for free. I walk a lot because I've had dogs for 12 years. That's all you need. You can find these things in the "Free" category of Craigslist quite often, I notice.

I assume local pickup. A few in my area on Craigs, but they look beaten to death.

They probably still work though, they're pretty hard to break. They're also so simple in design that if you have to tighten or fix something, it’s easy to do. Craigslist is hit-and-miss, so you have to check regularly. Also, I noticed ever since Covid, all exercise equipment gets picked up fast, and may be more expensive. My Nautilus squat and cable gym with the bench is 2-3 times what I paid for it now.
