Headline is utterly misleading though. There's no 'missing $90 million' the money is all on the ***GNF books. Nor has there been any proof or even formal accusations of theft or fraud. What there has been is some friction beetween the individual chapters that comprise the ***GNF and the leadership over transparency and how much say they have in the allocation of funding and the running of the organisation.

And in general I got support for their aims cos I think representation of the grass roots and transparency is critical in building these kinds of organisations, the indiividual activists and chapters on the ground are the heart and soul of any such movement IMO but it is also important to be on guard against the possibility of in-fighting and factionalism.

Yes and no, there's no evidence it's been diverted for Ms Cullors personal gain - or anyone else's for that matter - at least not yet, but the individual chapters who make up this organisation and represent the activists and organisors on the ground are claiming that they have been cut out of the allocation process and out of the decison making process in general of the organisation which is supposed to represent 'em.

So in the sense it that it may not have been allocated as the ********ic base of the organisation would choose, yeah, you could call that misappropriation, although not necessarily in the sense that it was taken for private gain, more that is was allocated preferentially and without due consultation to particular groups over others. Or that is the claim being made at least.. So. I'm taking it you approve of these efforts by the Chapters and affiliates to restructure their organisation and make funding allocation more transparent and ********ic?

I'd make the case that I got a good deal more experience with the workings of left wing or Marxist organisations than you and while in my experience the vast majority of activists are passionate and hard-working idealists, there will always be those who seek to take advantage, or who upon finding themselves in a executive position seek to profit from it, but I'd also say the probably holds across most organisations regardless of political or ideological leaning. People are people, man. Left wingers and 'marxists' (whatever you think that means) ain't any less honest than anyone else taken collectively I'd say. Some are scrupulously honest - I've known those (like my dear mum) who wouldn't take 10p from the collection tin to make an important phone call without leaving a receipt - others are... less so. BLNGNF is a registered not-for-profit and at no point in it's existance has it ever been legally designated a 'Domestic Terror Organisation' in fact, such a designation doesn't even exist under US law although a quick search suggests that might be about to change according to news that's come out earlier today
