Elsewhere the obituaries uniformly highlighted the designation that followed him for more than thirty years: He was the man Jack Dempsey ran away from.

Dempsey never claimed otherwise. “He was gypped out of his crack at the title,” Dempsey wrote in his autobiography. There was a reason. “I never fought Wills … because he was a Negro.”

Here we have a sources claiming that Dempsey said in his autobiography that he never fought Wills because he was black yet in Dempsey's autobiography this doesn't appear anywhere.

So go ahead and provide all of the biased, false sources you want. It doesn't match what really happened.

    Tired of getting smacked around?

By the way, you buffoon. That's not at all what it says above. Learn how to read

It say he said, "“He was gypped out of his crack at the title,” in the autobiography.

Gotdamn you're so dim witted. The source is also claiming that Dempsey said he wouldn't fight Wills because Wills was black.

You have a habit of going full blown ****** when faced with facts.

In my entire time of being a boxing fan I have always said that Dempsey was scared of Langford in 1916.

You aren't **** lmfao you asked me my opinion on something that I have openly said since before this thread was even made. Do you pat yourself on the back and call yourself a good boy when you eat all your peas?

Jeannette never challenged Dempsey. What Dempsey said was that Jeannette appeared unannounced at one of Dempsey's fights and said he'd fight when he found out that Kearns wouldn't allow it. "LET'S GO CHAMP!"

You think Klitschko ducked Briggs too? That he "ran him out of the gym"

--- Dempsey was in a charity promotion in advance of Willard against a local fighter.

After sitting on his stool to cheers, more followed as Jeannette entered, not the agreed opponent. Kearns went ballistic over the deception and pulled Dempsey out.

You repeat myths based on a false narrative completely out of context. Jack like Big George was always magnanimous to fighters like blind Sam who needed the payday of a title shot, something your ilk would be livid over today.

He went to Hollywood to make his money after Wills fell out and took his chief spar mate with him, Bill Tate. In fact most of Dempsey camps were noted black heavies of the day. Kearns was suing him, so no $ in the fight biz.

When Rickard lured him back, he wanted an eliminator between Wills and Tunney. Wills refused and then beat by Sharkey. Settled history.

People sure get emotional over two dead boxers.

Dempsey is hard to evaluate. He ducked all black fighters, and was outfoxed (admittedly after his prime) by a smaller Tunney. So is he really as superhumanly great as Arcel said?

Marciano beat the far better competition. So I gotta go with the Rock.

                      1. You blatantly ducked the information I provided you about Dempsey breaking that contract didn't you? I wonder why!

                      2. Myths based on false narratives. Pay attention to this thread, homeboy. Because I have an article, from Jack Dempsey himself, that claims he would have fought any white guy that day but not a black fighter. And the crowd began calling him a yellow dog.

Sorry if it breaks your heart
